#DiscoverTheAlumni Class: Iron Family: Pail-Assassins Graduation Year: 2018 Current Place of Residence: San Mateo, CA Current Position: As someone who works in medical strategy, I devote my time to coming up with the most effective ways to engage thought leaders and HCPs in scientific exchange. I spend much of my day keeping abreast of clinical data and often drive many different initiatives to communicate the information with the healthcare community. It is very different from working in a clinical or community setting, but it is exciting to be on the cutting edge of therapeutics and to champion products that have the potential to change patient lives on a larger scale. What is your favorite RPP memory?: Only one? I’ll cheat a little and say all of the Lake Tahoe trips. It was always a fun time hitting the slopes with the brothers but also chilling in the cabin playing games and gossiping. Honestly such a fun way to get to hang out with everyone! Biography: I started at Pacific in 2013 as a 2+3 pre-pharm student. Early on and through pharmacy school I had a distinct passion for the profession and was very involved in APhA-ASP. I had also known I wanted to work in a clinical setting and spent a lot of time developing myself for potential residencies after graduation. However, towards the end of P2 year I got to learn more about opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry through colleagues and guest speakers. I thought the opportunities were very unique and decided to delve a little bit further. Luckily for me, the opportunities lined up and following graduation I started as a Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellow at Daiichi Sankyo focused in medical affairs. It was a 2-year program and spanned multiple therapeutics including abuse-deterrent opioids for pain and antibody-drug conjugates for various cancers. It was super different than anything I had learned in school (no industry rotations) and the work was fun and thought-provoking. Although I do miss the patient and healthcare team interactions, the industry is just full of great opportunities. Since the fellowship I have been able to move back to California and have taken up a new medical strategy role supporting women’s health. As of now, I am working at Myovant Sciences. Fun Facts! Describe your average Friday night: Definitely staying at home and chilling. I might grab a drink and catch up on some Netflix or anime. Of course I always set aside time to get in some video games as well. Pre-COVID you could definitely catch me going out for some game night with friends as well! What do you like to do in your free time?: I love playing video games or reading books (primarily science-fiction). I am not much of an outdoors person, but I definitely enjoy hanging out with people as well. Board game nights are always fun, and catching up with people over milk tea or a beer is always a great time. If you were a color, what color would you be?: Blue |
